Homemade Tomato Sauce Recipe

Tomato sauce recipe is one of the easy and quite simple recipes made with Tomato, red chilli powder, ginger, garlic, onion, vinegar, and corn flour. Anyone can easily make tomato sauce at home by following my recipe instructions.
Tomato sauce is also known as Neapolitan sauce, salsa roja in Spanish, or salsa di pomodoro in Italian [wiki]. It is usually served with Pasta, Spaghetti, Pizza, Homemade French Fries, Potato Wedges, Chinese Chicken Curry, Chinese Chilli Chicken, Chicken Pakora, Fried Chicken and more.
Roma Tomato
Roma is a plum tomato popular for producing tomato paste, tomato sauce and puri. When Roma tomatoes are completely ripe, they are egg or pear-shaped and red. Roma tomatoes are available in 3 inches long and larger varieties. This classic tomato is used in Italian cuisine. So, I strongly recommend you to use Roma tomatoes for making delicious sauce.
San Marzano Tomato
If I compare San Marzano to Roma, San Marzano is thinner and the flesh is much thicker with fewer seeds. The taste of San Marzano is stronger, sweeter and less acidic. These tomatoes are available in 2 to 3 inches. San Marzano tomatoes are also the best choice to make tomato sauce and tomato paste.
Campari Tomato
If you didn’t find Roma and San Marzano, you can select any types of tomatoes. Here, in this tomato sauce recipe, I have selected Campari tomato. Campari is one kind of tomato, familiar for its juiciness, low acidity, and high sugar level. These tomatoes are available in any local supermarket.

Key Steps to Make Tomato Sauce at Home
In this tomato sauce recipe, we have to follow some simple instructions. Before starting to make tomato sauce, we should gather all the ingredients and process them properly.
Boiling
Wash all the tomatoes and cut them into slices. Now take a big-sized non-stick pan and add sliced tomatoes, sliced ginger, garlic, onion, and ½ cup water. Cover and cook for 15 minutes on medium-high heat.
Blending
Before blending, you should completely cool down the tomatoes and now blend them finely. Now we will strain it. So that we get a smooth, creamy tomato sauce.
Cooking
Take a large-sized non stick pan. Add creamy tomato sauce, white vinegar, red chilli powder, salt and sugar. Now cook it on medium heat till the sauce comes into proper thick gravy. It takes around 20-30 minutes on medium heat. Now make a liquid, add corn flour ½ tbsp and water 1 tbsp in a separate cup. Add this liquid and mix them properly. Let the sauce cool, and then transfer it to a clean and dry bottle.
How to Preserve For Long Time
- Preserving in Normal Freezer
We can easily preserve it in a normal freezer for at least 3 months. First we need to clean and dry a bottle or a plastic jar or a glass jar and then fill the sauce up in a bottle or plastic jar. Now put this in a normal freezer. That’s the procedure to preserve tomato sauce in a normal freezer. - Preserving in Deep Freezer
We can preserve tomato sauce in a deep freezer for at least 1 year or more than one year. It depends on how you will clean and fill up the sauce in a bottle or jar. After cleaning and drying the bottle or jar, carefully fill the sauce up in a bottle or jar and then properly tight up by the stopper and put it into a boiled water for a minute so that all germs will remove from the bottle.
Easy Homemade Tomato Sauce Recipe Fresh
Tomato sauce recipe is made with bright red tomato, onion, ginger, garlic, cornflour, sugar, red chilli powder, and vinegar. This recipe is quite simple. Anyone can make this at home by following the recipe instructions.
- 1 kg Tomato
- 1 pc Onion (small)
- 1 pc Ginger (small)
- 1 pc Garlic (small)
- ½ tbsp Corn Flour
- Salt to taste
- ½ cup Sugar to taste
- 1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
- ¼ cup Vinegar

First, wash all the tomatoes and cut them into slices and gather other ingredients.

Take a large-sized non-stick pan and add all sliced tomatoes, sliced ginger, garlic, onion, and ½ cup water.

Now cover and cook it for at least 15 minutes on medium heat.

Let it cool down and blend it finely. Now strain it properly. So that we get a smooth, creamy tomato sauce.

After staining the tomato sauce, take it in a large-sized non-stick pan. Add white vinegar, red chilli powder, salt and sugar. Now cook it for 15 to 30 minutes on medium heat till the sauce comes into proper thick gravy.

Make a liquid, add corn flour 1 tbsp and water 2 tbsp. Add the making liquid to the sauce and mix it well.

Let the creamy tomato sauce cool, and then transfer it to a properly clean and dry bottle or a jar.
