Chicken Tikka Kebab is also called Grilled Chicken Tikka. This chicken dish is originating in the Indian subcontinent. And it is a popular dish in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. 

Chicken Tikka Kebab

Chicken Tikka Kebab is made of small pieces of boneless chicken which are marinated by Indian aromatic traditional spices and baked using skewers in a clay oven known as a tandoor or on a grill pan or electric grill machine.

How to marinade chicken?

First we need to remove and discard the fat, skin and bones from the chicken. Cut the chicken into small pieces(2.5cm cubes).

Sprinkle with lemon juice, salt, yoghurt, mustard oil or olive oil and Mix well. Now Blend in the garlic, ginger, cumin, chilli powder, garam masala and paprika.

Mix all masala and chicken cubes properly. Cover with plastic foil and put in the normal freeze overnight.

How to serve chicken tikka?

We can serve chicken tikka with Indian Bread called Nan and Chapati, with salad, vegetables and red onion. Even, we can serve it with chicken tikka biryani and Chicken Tikka Masala.

Chicken Tikka Kebab making at home is very easy procedure. Follow my instruction, I have described the recipe step by step.

  • 4-6 Chicken Breast
  • 1 pc Lemon
  • Salt to Taste
  • 250 ml Natural Yoghurt
  • 20 ml Mustard or Olive Oil
  • 4 pcs Cloves Garlic, crushed
  • 2.5 cm Ginger root, Grated
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  1. Remove and discard the fat, skin and bones from the chicken and cut into 2.5cm cubes.

  2. Sprinkle with the lemon juice and salt and leave to marinate for 30 minutes.

  3. Mix the yoghurt with half the mustard oil or olive oil.

  4. Blend in the garlic, ginger, cumin, chilli powder, garam masala and paprika.

  5. Pour over the chicken and marinate in the refrigerator overnight.

  6. Soak wooden skewers in cold water for 2-3 hours.

  7. Thread the chicken pieces onto skewers and bake in a preheated oven at 240.

  8. Repeat the same and make four skewers. Set aside.

  9. Fire up your Grill Pan or outdoor grill (or indoor grill) and grill the chicken until cooked. While grilling, brush the chicken with oil. Serve hot with ranch dressing.
